What is BlenRig

BlenRig 2.0 is completely new rigging system for Blender 2.46.  Male BlenRig is a realistic Humanoid Rig.
Male BlenRig features realistic organic mesh deformation and a muscle bulging (lattice system). BlenRig uses Harmonic Coordinates for body articulation and facial animation. (Read  Pixar´s documentation, and its implementation in Blender with the  MeshDeform Modifier).
BlenRig is what I call a ¨Shapekey Free¨ system. It can properly achieve the most extreme poses, without the use of Shapekeys. This enables BlenRig to be a rigging system that is completely transferable between characters.
No need to re-model all your shapekeys with every new character you create!!

But BlenRig is not just a bunch of rigged characters, BlenRig is a whole new rigging system that enables you to reshape the proportions of your characters, giving you the ability to change the shape of the mesh without losing its spatial relationship with the Armature. All these features are possible thanks to the new Armature Baker script by Bart Crouch and I.
BlenRig also features IK/FK switches for all of its body parts, an exclusive Double IK Spine System for smooth spine articulation, Limbs Independence from body movement switches, and Character Stretching.

By using BlenRig you´ll get the following benefits in your workflow:

_Easy re-shaping of your models for further sculpting without losing the spatial relationship between the mesh and the Armature.

_Fast armature editing in POSE MODE with the Armature Baking Script!! No need to go to EDIT MODE for making little adjustments. Furthermore, you can bake new rest positions into Armatures that depend on lots of constraints with just a few clicks, and properly keep their constraints functionality!

_Fast Rig adjustement and implementation in case you want to use your own models.
